gloriya (b.1993) is a multidisciplinary
artist whose practice coalesces writing, performance and object-making. Through
the blurring of memoir and fiction, her work channels corporeal and semantic
notions of womanhood.
While she massages and manipulates words using her sculptural sensibilities, language’s non-linear and dynamic potential influences the tactility of the objects she makes. Within this ecosystem of relations, sentences and narratives loop back into the physical, their traces ‘embossing’ the surface of objects and spaces.
Gloriya Avgust received her MFA from the Piet Zwart Institute in 2023.
She is currently based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
